We know there are a lot of steps involved with registering teams and participating in tournaments. Below are a list of links and critical dates to help your team through the process.

STEP 1: Purchase an Annual National Membership

All teams must register at www.odysseyofthemind.com to participate in regional and state activities. A member may be a school, a recognized community group, or a college or university. The national membership fee is $135 (U.S.).  Register for National Membership

STEP 2: Register Team(s) for Tournament

Once you have purchased an annual national membership for your school or organizationteam with the national Odyssey of the Mind Organization, you will need to register each team.

  • REGISTRATIONS:
    • All team registrations will be done on the NATIONAL website:  Team Registration
    • The team registration fee is $125.00 per team and $45.00 for Primary teams.
    • DEADLINES:
    • To avoid a $20/team late fee, team must be entered and paid by December 31st!
    • All registrations must be complete and paid by January 16th!
    • Each team is required to provide one judge and one worker for the regional competition.
    • If you do not yet have a judge or worker for your team, just put coach name & contact information in order to complete your registration.
  • JUDGES:
    • This person agrees to attend judge’s training (February 23, 2019 at Bloomindale High School, 1700 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico) and to judge at the regional competition (March 2, 2019 at Bloomingdale High School, Valrico).  Judges are committed to one area the whole day of competition and can’t leave to see their own child compete in another problem.  Therefore, teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators make good prospects for judges. Judges are the heart of a quality tournament.
    • For us to ensure a successful experience for the participants, judges must commit to and attend the training, or teams will be penalized. Judging assignments will be ready for pick up on the day of the Mandatory Coaches Meeting. (February 23, 2019 at Bloomingdale High School, Valrico)
  • WORKER VOLUNTEERS:
    • Workers will be assigned a 2 hour “job” on day of tournament.  This assignment will not be during the long term performance of the team they represent.

When entering team/judge/worker contact information, please do not use a School District of Hillsborough County (SDHC) email address. SDHC blocks many email addresses making communication difficult. We must have email addresses that get checked regularly.

STEP 3: Regional Information

When you have registered and paid for your team(s), you need to consider our coach trainings (all free) and our spontaneous workshop for team members:

  • COACH TRAININGS:
    • All of our FREE coach trainings will be at different sites, which will allow more people to attend.  Please look at our Calendar for more details.
    • Anyone wishing to attend must register 3 days prior to event.  Go here to register for a coach training: Buc Bay Coach Training
  • SPONTANEOUS WORKSHOP:

STEP 3: Attend Regional Tournament

Finally, get your team ready to attend our regional tournament!!!
